Dr. Balamurugan Desinghu joined the Computation Institute (CI) at the University of Chicago as a scientific computing consultant in August 2014. He received his Ph.D. in physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and his postdoctoral training from Duke University, Indiana University, the University of Houston and Tulane University. He has research expertise in molecular dynamics simulations, electronic structure calculations, multiscale modeling and inverse molecular design. He has over 10 research articles published in peer-reviewed international science journals. His primary responsibilities in his role at the CI are documenting and supporting the scientific computing on the Open Science Grid (OSG), as well as training the researchers to get started on OSG. He is also involved in developing workflows for scientific computing applications and big data analytics with the OSG team.
