Marcia Teckenbrock has worked at Fermilab since 1999 and has recently become part of the OSG Communications team. She is the webmaster for the OSG website, working with the director, communicator and other consortium members to keep the web site content fresh and accurate. As the OSG document database administrator and librarian, she performs system upgrades and testing, maintains database topics and user accounts, and assists users.
Marcia gets to exercise her creative flair when designing the layout of posters and brochures for meetings, conferences and outreach activities in which OSG participates. She is an editor of and contributor to this newsletter, and is responsible for publishing it. She has written her first research highlight for OSG on MiniBooNE, which is featured on the OSG web site and will be featured in International Science Grid this Week.

Mike Wilde led a very successful two day grid workshop at University of Illinois at Chicago this past month. (See article below). We are planning to review the workshop material and would welcome additional volunteers, both for review and for teaching classes. Effort is ramping up to ensure sufficient throughput for the first Engagement production application. We will be knocking on more sites' doors for support for this over the next week.
Please make sure your communities have reviewed the VDT priorities and plans for the OSG 0.8.0 software release in August (link). Fourteen production sites have already moved to OSG 0.6.0, and there are a total of eighty-three compute production sites on VORS. We are hoping all sites will upgrade by June 15th. In addition, VDT 1.6.1f has been released. It fixes a security flaw in GSI OpenSSH, and bugs in the Generic Information Provider. Details, including how to upgrade, are available on the VDT 1.6.1 Release page.
The OSG Monitoring page has been updated to point to new versions of the Site Availablity Display (VORS), OSG Monitoring Information (BDII/CEMON), OSG Accounting information (Gratia), and VOMS service monitoring.
Finally, the CI Day at UC Davis in collaboration with Internet2, Educause and TeraGrid went very well.

Engagement:
More Resource Providers Needed
The engagement team described their approach and experiences in bringing onto the OSG a group of scientists new to grid computing. Their protein design application has consumed 35k CPU hours in the past month or so. A side meeting was held with representatives of caBIG, CompBioGrid, GridChem, and others to discuss broader issues related to supporting non-HEP applications on OSG, and potentially leveraging tooling and applications across these projects. International Partners
Two sessions were dedicated to International Partners. International
speakers covered grid projects in Australia, Scandinavia, Europe, North America (Canada), South America (Brazil) and Asia. It was gratifying to see the undeniable similarities in design and goals to our own OSG.

Storage
Patrick Fuhrmann presented the dCache Storage Element middleware.
Discussion focused on simplifying dCache installation and configuration, improving monitoring and support for dCache Tier 1 and 2 centers, and and coordination of effort between dcache.org and the newly-formed OSG storage team.

Adjacent to the skyscrapers that make up the Chicago skyline and overlooking the "Little Italy neighborhood, about 70 participants convened at the University of Illinois at Chicago March 24 and 25, 2007 for the Midwest Grid Workshop.
Organized by OSG and its partners, attendees ranged from undergraduates with a passing knowledge of grid computing to professionals who already use the grid for science applications and are interested in using it in more powerful ways.
