Engagement Summary

The engagement team described their approach and experiences in bringing onto the OSG a group of scientists new to grid computing. Their protein design application has consumed 35k CPU hours in the past month or so. A side meeting was held with representatives of caBIG, CompBioGrid, GridChem, and others to discuss broader issues related to supporting non-HEP applications on OSG, and potentially leveraging tooling and applications across these projects.

A “call to arms” was made in support of the Engage VO. There about ten resource providers currently supporting the Engage VO, however we need access to more in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of this infrastructure for NSF supported scientists. In particular, we wish to enable peak processing, where scientists need a lot of resources for a relatively short period of time. This requires access to many more systems.
